About Us

Genki Kitchen brings Japanese comfort food to East Sacramento, blending decades of Tokyo-trained craftsmanship with fresh, local flavors in a cozy neighborhood setting.

Our History

From the bustling kitchens of Tokyo and Osaka to the heart of East Sacramento, Genki Kitchen was born from Chef Lynn Fu’s lifelong passion for Japanese comfort food. With over 30 years of experience, she brings tradition, warmth, and soul to every dish.

Genki Kitchen began as a simple dream: to create a neighborhood spot where food feels like a warm hug. Chef Lynn Fu spent decades training in Japan, learning the art of soulful broths, perfect noodles, and carefully balanced comfort dishes in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

After bringing her craft to Sacramento, she saw an opportunity to blend authentic Japanese techniques with local ingredients and the easygoing East Sac spirit. The result is a menu that feels both nostalgic and new — from crispy katsu and rich curry rice to hearty udon and customizable bento boxes.

Today, Genki Kitchen is proud to be a gathering place for families, Sac State students, retirees, and food lovers from all over the city — a place where every meal is made with care, intention, and heart.

Every bowl and every plate at Genki Kitchen tells a story. Our signature niku udon starts with a slow-simmered kombu and shiitake dashi, topped with tender beef and finished with simple, honest ingredients. From hand-pressed onigiri to crispy golden katsu, we focus on food that comforts, satisfies, and brings people together.

We believe great food doesn’t need to be complicated — it just needs to be made with love, respect for tradition, and a little Sacramento twist.
